LGBTQ Crisis Hotlines

  • The Trevor Project provides counseling services, information, and resources for LGBTQ people and those trying to help them. Their focus is on young LGBTQ individuals between the ages of 13 and 24. The Trevor Project provides free, confidential help via chat, phone, or text 24/7.  Find more information on their website, text the word START to 678-678, or call 1-866-488-7386.  

  • The Trans Lifeline offers peer support to transgender individuals by trans people. The Trans Lifeline exists to provide peer support and counseling. It operates 24/7 and you can call when you are in crisis, or if you just want someone to talk to who understands.  Access their website for more information or call 877-565-8860 to chat with somebody now.   

General Crisis Resources

The resources listed below are general crisis and suicide prevention resources. They are not specific to the LGBTQ community, but they are LGBTQ+ inclusive. 

  • Colorado Crisis Services has help available 24/7, 365 days a year. They provide support and counseling for you and your loved ones on a variety of topics. Visit them online, text the word TALK to 38255, or call 1-844-493-8225.  All phones that call “998” from phone numbers with a Colorado area code will be routed to Colorado Crisis Services. 

  • The Rocky Mountain Crisis Center offers a crisis hotline or option to communicate via text message.  Dial 844-493-8255 to call the hotline or text 'TALK' to 38255.  When calling the hotline, press the asterisk button to reach informed peer support.  To find more information, visit their website.   

  • Postvention Alliance provides training, education, and support for suicidal thinking or behavior for oneself, loved ones, and those who suffered a loss due to suicide.  Find more information by visiting the Postvention Alliance website.  

  • The Second Wind Fund can cover the expense of mental health treatment for children and youth, 19 years of age and younger, who are at risk for suicide and do not have the means or insurance for treatment.  Licensed therapists can provide twelve or more free sessions.  Learn more by visiting their website.
